Venue: NAU Studio Theatre Produced by: Arizona Playmakers and Floc Written by: Tony Latham Music by: Chase Coleman VIEW PHOTOS OF THE SHOW SYNOPSIS: Two years have passed since Ty and Lloyd have found their way to Fiji's most popular, largest, and most suiting island location: Viti Levu. Following a nasty break up, Ty has tried to find solace amongst the sandy beaches and lapping waves. Lloyd tried to be the most supportive friend, but how can he possibly pull Ty out of this funk? Georgia and her best friend Tiffany travel to Fiji to escape New York and the bustling city streets. Georgia is on a mission to bring back her ex-fiance, or destroy him in the process, at this point, she's good with either. Along the way her parents and her psychiatrist, Dr. Jackie, throw obstacles at her while she journeys to find purpose. Just when everything seemed to be going right, fate and the gods above send yet another obstacle their way. How does a group of Americans survive on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean following a hurricane? PRODUCTION: I was a cast member of the original staged reading, so when they asked me to direct the show, it was an immediate yes. The show needed to reflect the mystery and magic of the tropical islands, and since we were working on a low budget, I knew this would have to happen in lights. Working with my lighting designer we created many silhouettes during the show and focused on creating an island feeling through the lights. The band became an integrated part of the show, up on stage for everyone to see, and the cast members interacted with them. All sound came from the band as well, there was nothing coming through the house speakers in this magical production. Things That Go Bump

Author: Mike Thompson Venue: NAU Studio Theatre SYNOPSIS: When a little girl's house is visited by the boogeyman by mistake, the dispatcher feels the urge to come back and apologize for the mishap. PRODUCTION: This was part of an annual 24 Hour Theater project. All 10 minute plays are written, directed, and performed within 24 hours. The Santaland Diaries

Author: David Sedaris Venue: MCC Theatre Outback SYNOPSIS: The Santaland Diaries is David Sedaris’ hilarious one-man send-up of his brief, misguided career as a Macy’s elf. The show skewers our sentimental love of all things Christmas – the happy children, the spritely elves, the gifts, the good cheer. Sedaris’ character, Crumpet the Elf, shows us the other side of what it’s like to work at Santaland, and the result is bawdy and irreverent, but always fun. PRODUCTION: This was an extra production from the regular season at the theater to create more opportunities for students. So while normally a one man show, the script was divided among 4 actors to create comedic affect. The set was designed as a break room and was painted on flats so we could tour it to other college campuses. |
